Butler: Expect more from Bangladesh

Vientiane: Head coach Peter Butler is proving himself to be a man with a golden touch for Bangladesh football.

Having steered the senior side to the AFC Women’s Asian Cup ™ for the first time by qualifying for Australia 2026, the Englishman has done the same with the Under-20 side who booked a debut appearance at the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup™ Thailand 2026 on Sunday.

Shubhangi: Teamwork took India to Finals

Yangon: Shubhangi Singh paid credit to her teammates after India ended a 20-year wait by qualifying for the AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup™ Thailand 2026 on Sunday.

Midfielder Pooja’s 27th minute strike earned India a 1-0 win over hosts Myanmar, confirming the South Asian team as the Group D winners, with Shubhangi playing the skipper’s role to perfection for Joakim Alexandersson’s side.

Thailand 2026 lineup finalised

Kuala Lumpur: The cast for the AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup™ Thailand 2026 was finalised following the conclusion of the Qualifiers on Sunday.

Eleven teams - the eight group winners and three best runners-up - will join hosts Thailand at next year's Finals, scheduled for April 1-18.

Bangladesh created history by qualifying for a debut appearance, advancing as one of the three best second-placed sides.

Kuala Lumpur: The AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup™ Thailand 2026 Qualifiers concluded on Sunday, with 11 teams booking their tickets to next April's Finals.

Matchday Three of the Qualifiers was filled with thrills and spills with history created and a long-awaited return to the Finals achieved with the teams now setting their eyes on next April's showdown in Thailand.

Qualifiers - Group C: Australia 3-0 Chinese Taipei; Palestine 2-0 Tajikistan

Dushanbe: Australia secured their place in the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup™ Thailand 2026 after defeating Chinese Taipei 3-0 in their Qualifiers Group C match on Sunday.

The win saw Australia clinching the top spot with a perfect nine points while Chinese Taipei - thanks to results elsewhere - qualified for the Finals as one of the three best second-placed teams.  
 
Palestine, meanwhile, departed the Qualifiers with their heads held high after beating Tajikistan 2-0.

Qualifiers - Group G: Northern Mariana Islands 3-0 Bahrain; Uzbekistan 3-3 Jordan

Tashkent: Uzbekistan and Jordan served up a dramatic 3-3 stalemate in their Qualifiers Group G tie on Sunday to advance to the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup™ Thailand 2026.

Both teams finished on seven points with Uzbekistan topping the group on goal difference to qualify automatically while Jordan made it to the Finals as one of three best second-placed sides.

In the other match, Northern Mariana Islands finished their campaign on a high with a 3-0 victory against Bahrain.

Qualifiers - Group H: Korea Republic 6-1 Bangladesh; Laos 2-0 Timor-Leste

Vientiane: Korea Republic confirmed their appearance at the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup™ Thailand 2026 after an emphatic 6-1 win against Bangladesh on Sunday.

The two-time champions had to come from behind to notch the win, which ensured a perfect campaign of nine points. There was, however, joy for Bangladesh as results elsewhere meant they sealed a debut appearance at the Finals as one of the three best second-placed sides.
 
Laos, meanwhile, ended their campaign with three points after defeating Timor-Leste 2-0.

Qualifiers - Group A: DPR Korea 11-0 Nepal; Bhutan 1-2 Saudi Arabia

Thimphu: Defending champions DPR Korea qualified for AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup™ Thailand 2026 in style after cruising 11-0 past Nepal in their Group A Qualifiers tie on Sunday.

DPR topped the group with their third win on the trot while Nepal finished with four points.
